Wloclawek

Włocławek is a city, where from 1873 faience has been produced. This kind of hand-painted ceramics is very popular in our region. During many years, in the reception building, a cooperative of folk and artistic handicraft of Kuyavia region were located. Today we encourage you to buy a souvenir – one of this special ceramic products. In a cabinet at the reception you can find this timeless artistic pieces.

Just behind our object you can find a city park named after Henryk Sienkiewicz – famous Polish writer. Going through trees and alleys you can reach the most representative Włocławek’s monument – Basilica Cathedral of the St. Mary Assumption. This gothic cathedral from XIV century hides beautiful polychromes, stained glass window designed by Józef Mehoffer and bishop’s gravestone made in red marble by Wit Stwosz.

When you continue your trip, you will reach renovated embankments, where you can walk along the Vistula river. It's worth pointing out that the river is really wide in Włocławek – we have a dam, the biggest power flow in Poland.

If you prefer active recreation, you can find swimming pool, bowling, gym and water equipment rental in the nearby. People willing to meet some art can visit a cinema, a theater, a cultural center and a museum. In Włocławek you will find the biggest collection of arts made by Stanisław Zagajewski - self-taught artist, representative of Art Brut – primitive, raw and intuitive art. Permanent collection consisting of his 120 works can be found in the Museum of Land Kujawy and Dobrzyn (Muzeum Ziemi Kujawskiej i Dobrzyńskiej).
